Drug reclassification Jan 2009

So cannabis is now a class B and now the whole country realizes that the idea of democracy in the UK is a total joke!

This is without a doubt the worst move our Labor government has ever made and has blatantly gone against ALL the recommendations from all the various groups and agencies who were asked to take a look at the 'problem'. Even the police recommended keeping it a class C substance yet the government has chosen to turn at least 40% of the UK population into criminals with the stroke of a pen.

Background
The simple fact is that for the last 2 years the UK has been experiencing the longest weed 'drought' in living memory. This has mainly been due to the reclassification of the drug laws in Morocco who used to be responsible for 90% of the UK cannabis supply. With half the population screaming out for something green to smoke many organized criminal gangs decided to setup growing operations all over the country to cash in on the inflated prices caused by the restricted supply. Also for the first time ever 'fake' weed started to turn up all over the country. Mostly this was poor quality cannabis that was treated to look like it was covered in THC crystals. The substances they used to treat the poor quality weed were things like wood glue, silica gel, sugar and ground up glass or sand. This became a real concern for everyone because most people had smoked some of this potentially dangerous stuff before realizing something was up.

Alcohol
With the country still preoccupied with the troubles in Iraq the the government manged to remove another basic human right .. to smoke in public buildings. This had the knock on effect of reducing the amount of people going out and getting drunk every night by at least 60%. At the end of the day the British public would rather stay home with a joint than be forced to stand out in the cold to smoke a cigarette like naughty children. Many pubs and clubs went out of business and the alcohol industry went into a steady decline. The government was under pressure to do something and decided to use the full force of the law to bully us into putting down the safe, non-addictive form of recreation we had all turned to and all go back to being tax paying alcoholics. The fact that people are willing to risk their health and liberties smoking dubious bits of weed rather than go out and take a fully legal drug like alcohol is testament to the current state of our drug laws.

Lies
To swing this the UK government has had to feed us some of the biggest lies on the effects of cannabis ever told. The fact they can claim there is a new breed of super weed sweeping our streets when most people are lucky if they can locate 1/8th a week of real stuff is a total insult to the intelligence of British public. Its totally clear that the people who claim to be controlling our lives for the benefit of out well being do not have our best interests a heart. Its all about the money .. some of which has undoubtedly found its way into Mr Browns load bearing back pocket.
